“Vice President Dick
Cheney will be called to testify on behalf of his former chief of staff
in the CIA leak case, defense attorneys said Tuesday, ending months of
speculation over what would be historic testimony.”

The Guardian

Vice President Dick Cheney will be the first sitting Vice President to testify in a criminal case- the trial of I. Lewis Libby, charged with perjury and obstruction in the Valerie Plame outing case. Libby is on trial for lying about what he told reporters regarding the leak of former agent Plame’s identity. The leak occurred shortly after Joseph Wilson critiqued the Bush administration’s allegations that Iraq had tried to buy yellow cake uranium in Nigeria. The trial starts next month..
